This is from last week. PM Erdoğan could make to the covers of four most best selling weekly satire magazines after his attack on columnists… The last time he was continuously reacting in a nationalist tone I remember was the pre-municipality elections period. That costed him dearly. He could not persuade nationalist Turks and he lost non-nationalist Turks and Kurds of all sorts… Now he is back into his nationalist tone. He supports the policies of Union and Progress Party of late Ottoman period which is the prime suspect of Armenian massacres. Well done. He attacked a columnist Cengiz Çandar, who criticized him in these terms. What may be the only good point is that policy elites care for what columnists state. They would not care at all. But they care and want to shape their ideas. In the mean time, in a totally different angle I am also angry with Mr. Çandar because he had ditched me once. After he scheduled an interview for my dissertation research, he did not answer back my calls:) The Journalist as Erdogan’s Scapegoat from The Istanbulian by Emre Kızılkaya Following his controversial remarks about the Armenian immigrants in Turkey, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has accused the Turkish media again. For him, the media is the perfect scapegoat for all of his mistakes. ANDREW FINKEL – Basic (wrong) instincts No one should underestimate Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s political skills. He is a powerful orator and a man with an innate grasp of putting into words the thoughts of his fellow citizens. İHSAN YILMAZ – Armenians and our speaking prime minister I wrote here a few times that thanks to a kind of strange Turkish exceptionalism, our military generals should speak every day so that people will see their intellectual caliber and so the army’s meddling with politics will no longer be tolerated. Sending Armenians back by DENİZ ÜLKE ARIBOĞAN – AKŞAM The statement by the prime minister that there are 100,000 illegal Armenian workers in Turkey and that the new Armenian initiative, which he developed in retaliation to the diaspora’s attitude, has naturally sparked quite a stir. Blackmail policies by GÜLAY GÖKTÜRK BUGÜN Look at what Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said: “There are 170,000 Armenians in my country; 70,000 of them are Turkish citizens. Newroz Celebrations in South-Eastern Turkey from Bianet :: English Thousands of people called for dialogue and democracy in the Newroz celebrations in Yüksekova. Masses of people flowing into the city celebrated a peaceful beginning of the Iranian New Year. Multicultural Yaşam Radio Gives Message of Peace from Bianet :: English The Istanbul Yaşam Radio presented the variety of its programs at a cocktail organized to make the radio staff meet with listeners and the media. Yaşam Radio broadcasts in Turkish and in minority languages and stands for a democratic initiative which includes the Kurds, Armenians and Alevis.                            Related posts:Another deplorable statement from PM Erdoğan: Deporting Armeanians… PM Erdoğan wanted to state that Turkey is indeed tolerant...
